A “GAME OF THRONES” PREQUEL IS OFFICIALLY HAPPENING
Game of Thrones fans rejoice! A prequel is coming.
It’s been a long time waiting, but E! News has confirmed that HBO has officially given a pilot order to a Thrones prequel.
After having five ideas in the works, the network has finally committed to a new series set thousands of years before the events of GoT.
While no specifics were revealed, we do know that the series will chronicle the descent from the Golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. The network’s logline teased that “only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.”
The currently untitled project will be co-created by author George R.R. Martin, original source author, and Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Secret Service).
While prequels are happening, a revival or spinoff is definitely off the table.
HBO president Casey Bloys told The Hollywood Reporter, “This story, A Song of Fire and Ice, is done. There’s no revival, reboot, spinoff talk.”
Game of Thrones‘ final season is expected to premiere in 2019.Tell me more
